PSYCHIATRIST

CAREER INFORMATION

Meet Dr. Kawamura!

Aloha, I'm Dr. Kawamura. I grew up in Pa'ia, Maui, and graduated from Maui High. Go Sabers! I went to Brandeis University where I studied psychology, took pre-med courses, and did the Health, Law, and Society Program. I took a year off after undergrad to volunteer at the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens as part of the Americorps program. After that, I attended the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). I did my residency in General Psychiatry as well as a Child Psychiatry Fellowship through the JABSOM Department of Psychiatry. I had always planned to come home to Maui to practice & was excited to get a job working in a clinic back home. I love seeing patients of all ages & backgrounds with all kinds of mental health issues, and I find it extremely rewarding when I'm able to lessen their suffering & help them get their life back! Seeing them smile, or hearing them share about the difficulties they've overcome & how much better they feel really makes my day!
