X - RAY

XRAY

During the X-ray portion of the program, students developed a strong understanding of radiation safety and its importance in protecting both patients and healthcare workers. They were introduced to the ALARA principle (As Low As Reasonably Achievable), which guides technologists to use the lowest radiation dose necessary to get quality images.

In addition to safety, students became familiar with X-ray equipment and how to properly set up a room for a patient procedure. They learned how the machines operate and observed the steps technologists take to prepare for each scan. Just as important, they gained insight into patient care by watching how technologists communicated with patients to make them feel comfortable and secure. Students also observed how teamwork plays a key role in the clinic, with technologists, radiologists, and administrative staff working together to provide efficient and compassionate care. This experience gave students a well-rounded view of both the technical and human sides of diagnostic imaging.
