URGENT CARE

During the Urgent Care portion of the program, students developed a stronger understanding of how healthcare providers quickly evaluate and diagnose patients with a wide range of acute medical concerns. They observed providers use diagnostic tools such as X-rays to assess fractures and other injuries, as well as laboratory tests to help identify infections, evaluate blood counts, and rule out more serious conditions. Students also observed the use of EKGs to evaluate a patient’s heart rhythm and identify potential cardiac concerns. This experience demonstrated how providers use information from multiple diagnostic tools, along with the patient’s symptoms and medical history, to make informed decisions about treatment. Students gained a greater appreciation for the importance of accuracy, efficiency, and clinical judgment when providing care in an urgent care setting.
